Roland has been practicing law since 1970. He has a broad range of experience, however has concentrated in developing and refining his expertise in the areas of Wills, Probate, Estate Planning and Conveyancing.
Following his graduation as a Bachelor of Laws from Sydney University, Roland obtained a Master of Dispute Resolution from University of Technology Sydney.
He is a member of the Law Society of NSW and a Full Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), an international body that focuses on Succession and Estate Planning, Asset Protection and Wills.
Roland established and is Chairman of the following not-for-profit organisations:
• The Music & Opera Singers Trust Limited (MOST) developed from the estate of the late Marianne Mathy Frisdane (a famous classical singing teacher) and has awarded over $3 million* in scholarship prizes and opportunities to singers and musicians. MOST manages and promotes The Australian Singing Competition, nationally recognised as the premier singing competition for classical and opera singers.
• The Geraldine Pascall Foundation developed from the Estate of the late Geraldine Pascall, a prominent Australian journalist. The Pascall Prize is awarded to the ‘critic of the year’ for reviews and criticism of the Arts. To date the Geraldine Pascall Foundation has awarded $300,000* to Pascall Prize winners.
Roland is also a Trustee of the Rona Tranby Trust that emerged from the Estate of the late Tom Rona. He established the Rona Tranby Foundation that is a unique collaboration between the Jewish and Aboriginal communities. To date almost $100,000* has been allocated to oral history projects.
